Here is what President Obama said about Springsteen:
Finally, we honor the quiet kid from Jersey ... who grew up to become the rock 'n' roll laureate of a generation. For in the life of our country only a handful of people have tapped the full power of music to tell the real American story -- with honesty; from the heart; and one of those people is Bruce Springsteen.
He has said: "I've always believed that people listen to your music not to find out about you, but to find out about themselves."…

Hello,
I'll be straight to the point. One of the artists associated with AERIA Records - Metamorphosis has recently suffered a serious medical emergency. He's currently out of work and without medical insurance, so you can imagine the pain, fear, stress, and anxiety he's experiencing tonight alone in his hospital room. He's a born and bred Jersey Shore native who grew up in Neptune. He is also an incredibly talented rap artist, wordsmith, and singer.
If you can spare a few dollars, an easy way…

Despite gloomy weather, Moira's party was incredible.
The first set was by Joe Harvard with Jay Walker on bass, myself on guitar, Matt Lott on Sax, and Ben Feld on drums. No matter who he's playing with, it always comes out sounding like the Joe Harvard Band. There is consistently an omnipresent earthy, roots quality like rock and roll alley cats on covert patrol, lurking in the shadows cast by a full moon. As a musician there is always a lecture hall like experience when playing with Joe, that…

I arrived with Sarah Tomek and Jeremy Korpas on Saturday afternoon just in time to see Status Green letting loose and playing some guilty pleasures of old Billy Joel tunes and the Supremes - taking well worn pop masterpieces and giving them new life and energy through Lou's sincere reverence of oldies. Quite charming and disarming to see a guy like that who has the scene by the balls, simply not afraid to admit that he just likes these old tunes and doesn't give a damn if you don't.
I then proc…

Why are people such dumb asses? The band Rev Theory is currently camped outside my house to visit their folks and get some beach time I guess.. Nice enough group of guys and they were very generous to give us some promo CDs and DVDs last year, etc. Not really my style of music and I usually detest anything even associated with the stupidity of the WWF, but alas different strokes for different folks..
The thing is people in my neighborhood are all excited because there's a "tour bus with famous…

How to Make Money from Music Licensing
Perhaps one of the biggest misconceptions about being an artist in the music industry is that all of your money comes from selling CDs and possibly touring. It is an understandable belief - for example, if a band sells 500,000 CDs at $14.98, it’s easy to do the math in your head and assume that of the nearly $7.5 million generated through those sales, a good chunk of that would go to the band.
However, the truth is, the industry is not like that, by and la…

LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- Asking fans for $75,000 to fund your next record takes a lot of chutzpah. Getting them to meet the goal in 53 days takes a lot of charm.
Jill Sobule raised $75,000 from fans through a Web site to fund her latest album.
Singer-songwriter Jill Sobule has both in spades.
Before Katy Perry topped the charts with her sassy single, "I Kissed a Girl," Sobule scored a Top 20 hit with a song of the same name back in 1995. Since then, she's been on four record labels a…

Hey everyone,
We have a couple of jobs that are not on the job board that call for some really
cool indie rock stuff (along the lines of the Strokes or The White Stripes).
If any of you have anything that is along those lines please upload it immediately
or if you have something that works in your account, point us in the right
direction.
This is something that is due asap but if you have material like this for future
opportunities, get it in the system. We have a lot of work coming in that c…

I was at a boy scout meeting in Roosevelt Elementary school in Sayreville when I found out.. Some of the older kids started crying. I walked home and my Mom was killing a six pack of Miller Lite and listing to Sgt. Pepper. People were sobbing on every news channel on my little 13" black and white TV.. I was only 12 but I knew that something DREADFUL had happened, a fundamental change in the balance of the Universe. Yes I know that John Lennon was only one one man, but what he represented was inf…

Wow. What a night on Cookman this past Thursday.. It started off sketchy, as we went to observe the tree lighting ceremony at Press Plaza and my son was promptly handed a bag full of promotional garbage including a violent video game from the U.S. Army and a Navy luggage tag featuring the utterly ignorant slogan: "Life, Liberty, And Pursuit Of All Who Threaten It". This is not what I want handed to my 6 year old son when he goes to see a Christmas Tree lighting. Considering that it was April wea…

The Jersey Shore lost one of its Irish legends Saturday morning.
Irish singer-performer Joe Finn, 66, of Avon died at 7:07 a.m. at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch, hospital officials said.
He had been diagnosed with a brain tumor, glioblastoma multiforme, over the summer.
"Honestly, he was a great person; he lived a good life," said his son Joe Finn Jr., 37, of Avon. "He was a dear friend to a lot of people and a lot of people we don't even know. He was very strong in his faith, very str…

"It’s dissapointing that local artists don’t get asked to participate in the larger bills that come into town. Especially the bands with a larger fan base. Status Green has been putting up good numbers for quite a while and we’ve never been asked or even able to open for a national act. Live Nation does bring some really good shows into town so that’s a good thing. But it could be great thing for local artists if we could be weaved into the web a little bit. Would it kill them to put one of us o…

Driving home from the Saint 1:00 AM in my old yellow Cadillac.. Quincy Mumford is singing about his Grandma on 90.5 the Night.
Scott was in a generous mood serving drinks. Randy the hotdog man discussed the work deficiencies of our beloved Ben Feld. Jay, Geena, John Pfieffer, and Greg Wilkens rolled in like a group of alley cats on the prowl. I have just been mesmerized by the songwriting talent of Rick Barry, Deena Shoshkes of the legendary band The Cucumbers, Sheli Aarden, Ken Shane and Micha…

To Whom It May Concern:
Live Nation recently set up shop in our community. Though I applaud the fact there are great national acts coming through town and offer my sincere respect to anyone who promotes great music, there are some serious negative issues that affect Asbury Park musicians that need to be addressed as well.
For instance, an executive at Live Nation’s threats to blacklist artists for playing the Seaside Music Festival last May. I personally saw a text…
